Remarks to the First Annual Conference on the Regulation of Financial Markets by Commissioner Michael S. Piwowar May 16, 2014 Good afternoon and thank you, Kathleen [Hanley], for that wonderful introduction. It is a privilege to be the lunch speaker at this inaugural conference on the regulation of financial markets sponsored by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business. Like the other SEC speakers, I must provide a standard disclaimer that the views I express today are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the Commission or my fellow commissioners.
